Precious Comfort
Acts 9: 40
Every commentary I have read centers Peter's prayer on Tabitha. But his intercession was as much for the comfort of her grieving brethren as it was for her. We see an example of our Lord Jesus Christ here. He is nearby and comes to the aid of all his saints, those who die, as well as those who are left to grieve the death of their fellow saints. One thing a believer desires when we depart this life is for our Lord to console the brethren we leave behind. What a blessed comfort we find here. Peter put them all forth, outside of the room of death, outside the place where their minds were taken up with sorrow, and he prayed, then he presented her to them alive. That is how the Lord comforts those who grieve the death of a precious saint.
