HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Psalm 31: 15  My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. 16: Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake.

As we near the beginning of a new year let us thank God that our times are in his hand.  In this past year, by his hand he delivered some of our brethren into glory where they now behold Christ face-to-face with no sin.  His hand delivered others out of darkness into his marvelous light giving them faith in Christ.  Through the sorrows and joys of the past year it was God’s hand that kept us looking to Christ.  His hand kept his messengers preaching the good news of our victorious Redeemer and kept his redeemed assembled to hear.  It is God’s hand that set the race before us and made us take each step the whole year through.  We thank and praise our God who never makes a mistake.

As we enter a new year, let us ask God to keep his hand upon us according to his everlasting covenant for the sake of Christ.  We ask him to keep his hand upon this congregation, as well as all our brethren in other places, using us all to spread the gospel of Christ. May he be pleased to bless the word to the hearts of his people everywhere.  We ask God to unite our hearts together with one another so that there be no division but only love between his saints.   Whether the days ahead bring forth are happy or sad let us remember that everything is of God’s hand for his glory and the good of his saints.  I thank God that he has given me the privilege to serve you.   May he make our thirteenth year together the best so far.

?-----------------------------?

What will this year…bring our way? Everything the Lord has wisely decreed in His eternal purpose for us to experience (Rom. 11:36; Eph. 1:11).

The Lord gave David these words in Psalm 37:23; “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.” Our Lord Jesus Christ told His disciples in their day; “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

The apostle Paul declares that every believer has won the victory of salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ forever; “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:57).  We can be assured by the word of our blessed God and Saviour; that every promise of God will be fulfilled (Joshua 23:14; 2 Peter 1:3-4); that our gracious Lord will provide for our every need (Phil. 4:19); that He will never leave us or forsake us (Heb. 13:5-6).  As the old writers used to express it; “The Lord will give us all grace now and glory forever. We don’t know what the future holds but we know who holds the future.” (Psalm 31:15).  Pastor Tom Harding

A LOVE THAT OVERCOMES

I Corinthians 13:13 “Now abideth faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love”

Nothing will avail to bring us together to overcome our natural envy, jealousy, and misunderstanding if love is missing. “Love believeth all things, beareth all things, hopeth all things, and endureth all things. Love never fails.” Brethren, let us love one another, for love is of God.

A MEMORY THAT FORGETS

One of the best things we can learn to cultivate is a memory that forgets. A memory that forgets all wrongs, all ill words, all ingratitude. If our Lord never remembers our sins against Him, let’s not remember any against us. Let’s remember to forget as well as forgive. “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Hebrews 8:12  Pastor John Chapman

FORGIVENESS

Many people suffer the “tormentors” (Matthew 18:34) of an unforgiving heart. When the suffering becomes unbearable, they search the dark dungeons of their already enslaved heart for the ability and virtue to forgive. They may temporarily escape their prison cell only to be captured and returned. The problem is that the power to forgive cannot be found in a sinner’s heart. The ability to forgive is very simply the result of being forgiven. Look not on the offense, or offender you are trying to forgive. Rather, look at the offense of your own sin towards God, and His grace to forgive YOU through the suffering of the Lord Jesus Christ. Forgiving will be easy in light of your own forgiveness.
                                                                                  Pastor Greg Elmquist

?-----------------------------?

The Lord Jesus said you and I who God has forgiven for Christ’s sake, “Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.” (Lu 17:3-4)

?-----------------------------?

There is a chorus that we love to sing which says: “Did you hear what the Lord Jesus said to me? They’re all taken away, away! Thy sins are pardoned, and you are free. They’re all taken away!” With that good news declaration being proclaimed to sinners in the word of God, the apostle Paul said: “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 3:13,14).

As we leave one year and enter into a new year, may this thought bring great joy to our hearts: In the Lord Jesus Christ our old, dark past has been dealt with and put away. It is over! And the only thing that awaits us ahead is the new light of a sinless eternity with Christ! He is our “mark” let’s press toward Him!                        Pastor Gabe Stalnaker
