Proverbs 16:23: The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth,
and addeth learning to his lips.
?-----------------------------?
(Psalm 139:17) “How precious also are thy thoughts unto
me, O God! How great is the sum of them!”
Have you thought of what a comfort it is to have a God you can
trust, a God who condescends to think on us, to consider our needs, and then
supply them? What if all we had to believe in was “the laws of nature”, “mother
nature”, “the big Guy”, “a Supreme Being”, or, “the man upstairs”? What if all
we had to look forward to was some set of “laws” and “powers” acting apart from
God? There are many who try to get away from the thought of a personal God; One
who redeems, preserves, and provides for His people. The Bible declares a
personal God who takes a special interest in His people, and thinks on them
with a tender, gracious consideration. That is what David said, “How
precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them!”
What a blessing it is to be able to pray, “Our Father, who art in
Heaven.” The greatest blessing is to know God thinks on us.

“Fear Not!”
Our Lord says to all of his people, “Fear not: for I have redeemed thee,
I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine” (Isaiah 43:1). We have no
cause to fear, no matter what our circumstances may be. If we belong to Christ,
by the virtue of his blood and the power of his grace, all is well. He will
allow no harm to come to his own elect. We will pass through the waters of
sorrow, but he will be with us. We will go through the rivers of affliction,
but they will not drown us. We will have to walk through the fiery furnace of
trial, but the flame shall not kindle upon us. He that is our God is the God of
the waters, the rivers, and the fire. He has made them for us; and he will see
to it that in their ultimate end, they will bring good to us. –Don Fortner

HE KNOWS
Suppose
there was a person who knew EVERYTHING about you. Everything you’ve ever done.
Everything you’ve ever said. Everything you’ve ever thought. When they looked
at you, they saw right through you. Would you not do everything in your power
to avoid such a person for shame? If God’s knowledge of us was only because of
His omniscience, we would have reason to hide like Adam. But His knowledge of
us is more than just the essence of Deity. His knowledge of us is experiential.
He was made in the likeness of sinful flesh. He is touched with the feelings of
our infirmities. He bore our sins in His body on Calvary’s tree. He was made
sin and suffered all its shame. He was forsaken of God in full humiliation. He
satisfied Divine justice. Now, He says to His children, “I know everything.”
“Come boldly unto the throne of grace that ye may obtain mercy, and find grace
to help in time of need.” Heb 4:16. No need to hide. Fig leaves won’t work. “A
MAN shall be as an hiding place.” Is 32:2. “Come unto me all ye that labor and
are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matt. 11:28. –Greg
Elmquist

“And
while he was still a long distance away, his father saw him coming. Filled with
love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.” Luke 15:20
After a child
of God has enjoyed something of the goodness and mercy of God revealed in the
face of His dear Son, he may wander from his mercies—stray away from these
choice gospel pastures—and get into a waste-howling wilderness, where there is
neither food nor water—and yet, though half starved for poverty, has in himself
no power to return. But in due time the Lord seeks out this wandering sheep,
and the first place He brings him to is the mercy seat, confessing his sins and
seeking mercy. O what a meeting! A penitent backslider and a forgiving God! O
what a meeting! A guilty wretch drowned in tears—and a loving Father
falling upon his neck and kissing him! O what a meeting for a poor,
self-condemned wretch, who can never mourn too deeply over his sins, and yet
finds grace superabounding over all his abounding sins—and the love of God
bursting through the cloud, like the sun upon an April day—and melting his
heart into contrition and love! –JC
Philpot
?-----------------------------?
Good works cannot put in a
valid claim on peace and heaven cannot be obtained by the rules of debt; but
since it is clear that eternal life is the gift of pure favor, you need not
marvel when I say that grace comes to men leaping over the mountains of their
iniquities. Abounding mercy delights to blot out abounding sin, and it will
never lack for opportunity to do its pleasure. There is no lack of occasions
for grace in this poor fallen world, and of all the places where there is most
room I know of one spot not far from here where there is a grand opportunity
for infinite mercy and super abounding grace to exercise their power. Here is
the spot—it is this treacherous, guilty heart of mine. I think, my brother, you
know of another spot that is very like it; and you, my sister, too, can say,
“Wondrous mercy! Sure there is room for all its heights and depths to be shown
in this sinful soul of mine.” –Charles
Spurgeon

An
Expected End
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith
the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
(Jeremiah 29:11)
Do you
know what that expected end is, mentioned in Jeremiah beloved? The answer is
found in Jude chapter 1 verse 24—“Now unto Him that is able to keep you
from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory
with exceeding joy.” Our Lord finished the work of our salvation, and in
the covenant of God’s eternal grace, we have always been in His view and His
joy, that of presenting us faultless before the presence of His glory with
exceeding joy! Beloved look unto JESUS the author and finisher
of our faith! The alpha and the omega of our salvation,
Christ Jesus the Lord who “for the joy that was set before Him endured the
cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of
God” (Hebrews 12:2).
He has you and me in view beloved! We are the joy set before Him;
that glorious day when He will give us, all of His beloved people, an expected
end. And He condescends to tells us what it is beloved, that “whosoever
believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John
3:15) AMEN! –Joseph Murphy
