“He must increase, but I must decrease.”

John 3:30

John the Baptist, the man who was sent to prepare the way of the Lord; the man who our Lord Jesus Christ said was the greatest prophet born of a woman, said: The Lord Jesus Christ must increase, but I must decrease.” To that, all of Gods people will cry: Amen! The higher that the Lord Jesus Christ is raised up, and the more exalted God’s people see Him to be… The happier they are! When Christ is exalted, their joy is exalted, their hope is exalted, and their faith is exalted as it LOOKS UP to Him, HIGH in the heavens. The higher they see His throne to be, the more glorious the gospel of their redemption is to them, and the more in awe they are of how far He came down to save them. After seeing Christ in all of His exalted glory, Gods people cannot and will not ever see Him any other way. They will cry to every soul who will listen: He must increase, but I must decrease!”  Pastor Gabe Stalnaker

Human rights in this country (USA) is a big deal. We protect our rights, we fight and die for them. However, before God we have no rights. Our rights were forfeited in Adam. We have forfeited them by our own sinfulness. Any sinner who winds up in heaven does so on the rights of another, and that one is Jesus Christ the Righteous One.

CHRIST IS GOD

In the original Hebrew language the 68th Psalm gives different names for God—v1: Let God [Elohim] arise—God our Judge; v4:…extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH—Jehovah, the existing one; v11: The Lord [Adonai] gave the word—sovereign, controller, supreme ruler; v14:…the Almighty [Shaddai] scattered kings—almighty, most powerful; v19…the God [El] of our salvation—strength of our salvation.  Who is this God?  V18: Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.  Ephesians 4:8 declares this is the Lord Jesus Christ.  Brethren, Christ Jesus is Elohim, JAH, Adonai, El Shaddai, our risen, successful Redeemer!

THE DIMENSIONS OF CHRIST’S LOVE

Ephesians 3: 18: May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19: And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Psalm 103 gives the dimensions of Christ’s love

·         The height—Ps 103: 11: For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

·         The breadth—Ps 103: 12: As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

·         The depth—Ps 103: 13: Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. 14: For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

·         The length—Ps 103: 17: But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him,…

There are two systems under which all men look the same – the law and grace. All who are under the law look the same: guilty. So their end is the same: destruction. All who are under grace look the same: righteous. So their end is the same: blessing.   Pastor Joe Terrell

THE END OF TRIALS

A record producer, David Foster, was driving home from the studio late one night when he ran over a man standing in the road.  At the hospital, the man was bleeding from his ears, mouth, and nose, had broken legs, arms, ribs, internal and spinal injuries.  During the exam, physicians discovered he had a bleeding brain aneurism which caused him delirium which is why he was in the highway flailing his arms.  But if he had not been hit by the car the aneurism would have killed him within hours.  Turns out the man was the actor Ben Vereen.  He recovered fully.  He became friends with David Foster.  He often said that David Foster saved his life by running over him with his car.

Sometimes, God’s trials are painful.  We think they will kill us.  But they are the means God uses to turn us to Christ and save his chosen from sure and certain death.

YE HAVE DONE IT UNTO ME

Matthew 25: 40: And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

This declares every believer’s oneness with Christ.  We are “members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones” (Eph 5: 30). He made us one with him and one another even as Christ and the Father are one (Jn 17: 22-23).  What a blessing!  What a constraint!  Whatever we do to the least of his brethren we do unto HIM!  This makes us want to do whatever good thing we can for one another.  It makes us want to never do anything bad to our brethren.   “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
