Wholly Holy

Acts 14: 10

The Lord Jesus is illustrating to us what we are by our sin—impotent—and what we are by his sanctifying grace—whole.  After he had testified in the heart of the impotent man and given him faith the Lord told Paul, “Now tell him to stand up and walk.”  Our Lord commands his children to do what he has first made us able to do.  The same was true when Paul spoke in the synagogue (Acts 14: 1, 4)  Christ sent forth his gospel into the hearts of his redeemed through the testimony of his grace and the Lord worked great miracles by the hands of his servants--he made sinners whole through faith in Christ and separated them to himself (Acts 14: 3, 4)  Being separated from the sin which separated us from God is by God the Father putting us in Christ, by Christ purging our sin and making us the righteousness of God in him, and by sanctification of the Holy Spirit whereby we are made what we were not before, whole, and kept from the evil through his Word (John 17: 15-19.)  He shall do the same for our mortal bodies (Romans 8: 10, 11) Then the believer shall fully apprehend that for which Christ has apprehended us (Philippians 3: 12-14.)
