Paul anticipated the question they might have in their minds. This Jesus was rejected and crucified at Jerusalem by the most preeminent leaders in religion. How then can you expect us to believe on this Jesus whom our religious leaders rejected? So Paul declares that even that which the most pious in Jerusalem performed toward Christ Jesus was according to God’s promise, declared by God’s messengers, throughout the law and the prophets (Luke 24: 25-27; Isaiah 50:6; 52: 14; 53:3-5; Psalm 22: 7-8; Matthew 27: 43; John 19: 28-30; 36, 37.)
