Some years ago I was
preaching the gospel to a congregation in Greenup Ky. It was a small group and
in that group was a man in a wheel chair. He said to me after preaching a
message that he believed that gospel. He said that he had been listening to my
pastor Henry Mahan and loved that message that he preached. After preaching
there for about five weeks, I received a phone call on a Saturday night telling
me that the gentleman in the wheel chair had passed away and that I did not
need to come back to preach anymore because they did not believe the gospel
that I preached. What a blessing it was to me to be used of God to feed one of
His sheep before taking him home and what a curse it was to them who rejected
it. There are no accidental meetings with the gospel. 2Co 2:15-16 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are
saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the
savour of life unto life. And who is
sufficient for these things? John Chapman

THE BEST LAND IS ONLY FOR THE ABOMINABLE
Genesis 46: 33: And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call
you, and shall say, What is your occupation? 34: That ye shall say, Thy
servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell
in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is
an abomination unto the Egyptians.
Joseph taught his brethren to
confess to Pharaoh that they were shepherds because every shepherd is an
abomination to Pharaoh. Upon this
confession Pharaoh gave them the king’s own best land, Goshen, which means “to draw
near.” Why did God bring to pass this strange providence? Remember the Lord’s
parable of the Pharisee and the publican? The publican confessed to God that he
was a sinner and God justified him (Lu 18: 13-14) Christ teaches his brethren to confess that
we are an abomination to God in need of Christ’s righteousness. Upon that
confession God makes us dwell in God’s own best land, Christ Jesus, in whom we draw
near to holy God fully accepted. Sinner
do not let your sin make you linger. The
best land is only for the abominable.

“If my
salvation was so difficult to accomplish that it necessitated the death of
Christ, then all my works, all my righteousness of the Law, is good for nothing.
How can I buy for a penny what cost a million dollars?” Martin Luther

I KNOW THEM
“My sheep hear my voice, and I
know them, and they follow me:”
John 10:27
PRECIOUS TRUTH – Jesus
Christ, that great shepherd of the sheep, says: “I know them.” Child of God,
wherever you are at present, whatever you might be passing through at this
moment, remember this: your Savior knows. Christ’s sheep are never out of his
hands and never out of his heart. He does not appear, declaring his love to his
sheep, and then tell them that he will let them perish and not interfere with their
will. Never. “The
LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea,
I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness
have I drawn thee.”
SWEET COMFORT – Yes, what
sweet comfort to remember that “My
Savior knows.” An aged
believer, on his death bed, in and out of consciousness, was asked the cause of
his great peace. He answered, “When I am able to think, I think of Jesus; and
when I am unable to think of him, I know he is thinking of me.” Christ will
seek, find, and save his sheep in time, and bring them each to be with him in
eternity. There will never be a time when Christ will not say:
“I know them.”

GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY
Psalm 44: 8: In God we boast all the day long, and praise
thy name for ever. Selah.
True worship is giving God all the glory for all our
salvation. This is the difference in
false and true worship. False worship boasts in that vile thing called “self.” True worship boasts in God, giving all praise
to his name forever.
