Proverbs
14: 10: The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not
intermeddle with his joy.
?-----------------------------?
“The fool
hath said in his heart, No God…Everyone of them is gone back: hey are altogether
become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Ps 53: 1, Men hear this and say, “No God! Some are good.” It is because men who keep up a good
appearance outwardly are thought of as good while those who are outwardly wicked
are thought of as bad. But God says the inward
heart of the very best man is as wicked as the outward wickedness of the most sinful.
?-----------------------------?
The distressing,
deep-seated evil of the old man in us and the relentless warring of the flesh
against the spirit are instruments by which God the Holy Ghost graciously weans
from trusting in ourselves, makes Christ more precious, and causes us to look
away from self to Christ alone as all our Wisdom, Righteousness,
Sanctification, and Redemption.

OWNING OUR SINFULNESS AND BEHAVIOR
One of the
most impossible things for anyone to do is to completely own their sinfulness
and behavior without blaming someone or something else. It takes the power of
God Almighty to bring a sinner to the place where he/she says, “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou
mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.” Psalm 51:4
This is a work of God. O that Almighty God would be pleased to bring us
to this place.

THE CROSS OF CHRIST
The cross of Christ is the cure for every sickness for God’s people. When our sickness is our terrible sin and
unrighteousness, we find the cure looking to Christ crucified who put away the
sin of his people and made us righteous in him.
When our sickness is our sin-nature which wars against our new man bringing
us into captivity to commit sin which we hate then the cure is Christ crucified
who gets all the glory for delivering us from the body of this death, even
daily. When our sickness is that we are not
loving our spouse as we ought then the cure is looking to Christ who loved his
bride and gave himself for her. If our
sickness is that we have been emotionally hurt by someone so badly that we find
it near impossible to forgive them and love them and give them another chance
to prove themselves true then the cure is looking to Christ crucified who would
not cast us out when we sinned in Adam, who bore our sins and judgment unto
death even while we were wretched, abominable sinners against him, who loved us
all our days of sinful rebellion and who still loves us in spite of our daily
sins. Whatever our sickness the cure for God’s people is looking to Christ
crucified who teaches us to love as he loved us.

WHAT DO I DO NOW?
What do I do when I am under severe
trial, enduring pain of body and mind, and am full of fear? What do I do when
dying seems to be easier than living with the circumstances the Lord has given
me? The answer for the believer is simple: do the same things you do
when the Lord blesses you: worship publicly, pray, and read God’s Word.
What do I do when I don’t understand
what God is doing or how He could possibly bring good out of my painful
situation? Go to the house of the Lord in the public worship service just
like you do when the Lord blesses you. “When I thought to know this,
it was too painful for me; until I went into the sanctuary of God; then
understood I their end.” (Psalm 73:16-17) What do I do when I am so
full of fear? Trust the Lord just like you do when the Lord blesses
you. “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” (Psalm
56:3) What do I do when I feel hopeless and helpless? Look to Christ just like
you do when the Lord blesses you. “I will lift up mine eyes unto the
hills, from whence cometh my help.” (Psalm 121:1) What do I do
when I don’t think I have the strength to endure for one more minute?
Trust the Lord to be your strength. “I will seek that which was lost,
and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was
broken, and will strengthen that which was sick.” (Ezek. 34:16) No
matter what our circumstances may be at the moment, let us say with David, “I
will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
(Psalm 34:1)

THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON FOR
PREACHING
1 Corinthians 1: 29: That no flesh should
glory in his presence. 30: But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is
made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31:
That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
God
chose to use the means of the public preaching of Christ crucified so that no
one he saves can glory in our flesh in God’s presence. He chose this means to make Christ all to
each of his children, bringing his child to all the glory to the Lord.
Todays’ vainly religious world is like
unbelieving Israel in the wilderness. They grew weary of waiting for Moses to
come down out of the mount. So they made an idol they could see. They bowed down to it then rose up to play.
It has been 2015 years since Christ ascended into the mount of God. The vainly
religious world has grown weary of waiting on the Lord Jesus. So they have made
them an idol—called church—and a few days a week they put on a play called
church.
But God had some elect among Israel and God
called them out. So I pray God has elect among those playing this world’s religious
charade because he will use this means to call them out into Christ, into his
true church. Then we cease glorying in
our flesh and glory only in the Lord.

EVEN AS GOD HATH
Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath
forgiven you.
The love of Christ constrains us. God’s
lovingkindness in Christ to sinners like us constrains us to be kind one to another.
God’s compassion on such sinners as we are makes us tenderhearted toward brethren. We are constrained to forgive the very worst
offenses of our brethren, “even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” God
does not continue to dwell on our past sins, he remembers them no more. Forgiveness involves love: it is giving an offending
brother a clean slate to move forward as we strive to love them. Sometimes it is near impossible to forgive
and go on loving them. But if for no
other reason, “be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, EVEN AS GOD FOR CHRIST’S SAKE HATH FORGIVEN YOU.”
