“The very hairs of your head are all numbered.”(Matthew 10:39)

There seems to be much anxiousness among the people of God at this time with the Covid-19 virus and the upcoming election.  It would be good at this time as always to remind ourselves of God’s absolute sovereignty in all things.  This truth does not breed irresponsibility on our part or at least it shouldn’t; yet at the same time it should relieve us of anxiety.

God’s children are spoken of as “the apple of his eye”.  No one is going to stick his finger in God’s eye, so nothing is going to touch us that He has not ordained for His glory and our good.  Surely some of us have lived long enough in this world to recognize that we are poor judges of what we think is good for us and what is not.

Let us mediate more upon His purpose, His glory, and less on what we perceive may happen.  David Pledger

“Nothing that we profess to know, believe, or hope for, deserves the name of a privilege farther than we are influenced by it to die unto sin, and to live unto righteousness. Whosoever is possessed of true faith will not confine his enquiries to the single point of his acceptance with God or be satisfied with the distant hope of heaven hereafter. He will be, likewise, solicitous how he may glorify God in the world and enjoy such foretastes of heaven as are attainable while he is yet upon earth.” John Newton

Christ By Whom We Worship

God's dear people have a true and strong desire to worship Him as He has appointed. When Moses was given directions for how Israel was to approach God, he was told; "See that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount" (Heb. 8: 5).  God has a prescribed way for all to approach him. He himself established three things absolutely necessary to drawing nigh unto him.

1. There was the Tabernacle; the only place appointed where he would be, and where he would reveal His glory.

2. He required that a sacrifice be offered on the altar in the tabernacle before he could be approached and any man be accepted. There had to be a blood shedding. The innocent for the guilty. "Without the shedding of blood there is no remission" (Heb. 9:22).

3. There had to be a Priest, one appointed by God and he alone could come into the tabernacle, he alone could offer the sacrifice. He had to be anointed; he had to be without any blemish.

Oh beloved, we have all of these requirements in Our Blessed Redeemer Jesus Christ. He was God's tabernacle, God was in Christ, Christ was God come to dwell among us, and the Glory of God is seen in Him and Him alone. "The Word was made flesh, and dwelt (tabernacled) among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" (Jn. 1: 14).

He was God's Lamb, the ONLY SACRIFICE that ever put away sin. His blood cleanses from all sin. "Neither by the blood of bulls and goats, but by His OWN BLOOD he entered in ONCE into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us" (Heb. 9: 12).

He is our Great High Priest. Christ, "Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec" (Heb.5: 10).  The priests under the law offered the same sacrifices which could never take away sins, "But this man after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God, For by one offering he hath perfected FOR EVER them that are sanctified" (Heb. 10:11-14).

Since Christ is all these things unto us, let us draw near in full assurance of faith, for we see God's glory in Him, we have His shed blood that put away ALL our sin, and we are accepted in the BELOVED.   Donnie Bell

He Careth For You!”

1 Peter 5:7

For that child of God who is laboring under some present distress, there are no words sweeter than these — “He careth for you!” He cares for your soul. He cares so much that he gave his only begotten Son to redeem you from sin and supply you with every spiritual need. Surely, if Jesus Christ died to redeem your soul from death, you must know his great care. Not only is that so, the Lord God tenderly cares for the bodies and the concerns of the lives of his people. Do you believe that He cares? Then cast your care upon the Lord!

Are you troubled about your sin? Cast it upon the Lord. Are you troubled about some personal trial? Cast it upon the Lord. He was tempted in all points like as we are. He is touched with the feeling of our infirmities. He is able to help them that believe. Go, therefore, with your heavy burden to the throne of your merciful High Priest, cast your burden there and find grace and mercy to help in your time of need.  Don Fortner

COMMANDING THE STORM

Psalm 107: 25: For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. 26: They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths.

Storms on the ocean are a wonder of God.  God also commands the spiritual wind.  Christ said, “The wind bloweth [where it will] and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit” (Joh 3:6-8).  We have no power to resist the Spirit of God.  The Holy Spirit determines the outcome.  He quickens us and makes our sins exceeding sinful in light of Christ crucified.  This Psalm says the waves bring sailors to their “wits end.”  The margin reads “all their wisdom is swallowed up.”  So it is when the Spirit of God makes Christ Wisdom unto us, Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble,…” (v28).  We cast all our care into Christ’s hand when we can do nothing else. When God has made us see we cannot save ourselves then God makes us willing to cast all our care upon our Lord Jesus in faith.  Then by bringing us into saving communion with our Lord Jesus Christ “…he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven” (vv28-30).
